TikTok has fallen in love with a new Halloween decoration. He’s eight feet tall and orange, and his name is Lewis.

According to TikTok’s official newsletter, fan appreciation posts of the Halloween character received more than 37 million views from September 28 to October 5. These range from fans innocently spotting him in the store to dressing up as him to even theorizing about his romance with Skelly, the 12-foot-tall skeleton from The Home Depot.

So who is Lewis and why is he so darn popular? Here, we introduce you this year’s hottest Halloween decoration — what he looks like, what he says, and how you can get your own Lewis this holiday.

Who Is Lewis?

Lewis is a large humanoid pumpkin decoration from Target.

Target’s lifestyle news page calls him a “Halloween ghoul” and “Target’s true pumpkin king.” He has a jack-o-lantern for a head, huge orange hands and a scraggly, hooded black and gray cloak. Better yet, his head lights up for maximum Halloween thrills and chills.

Sometimes, he sports a Target team name tag, as in the video below. Target news explains: “When he’s not chatting up trick-or-treaters, Lewis loves cruising the Target aisles with Li’l Lewis and the sly pumpkin swamp ghoul … They try on costumes and taste-test all the treats.”

@shopspaalchemy Peep my husband in the background at the end laughing because he knew how excited I was to see Lewis 😆 And don’t worry, the little boy is my son, not a random kid I enlisted to help me activate Lewis! #mynameislewis #target #halloween #lewis #spookysznvibes ♬ original sound – Spa Alchemy

What Does Lewis Say?

Lewis’s catchphrases, as well as his daunting appearance, cemented his place in Halloween home decor history.

According to USA Today, when turned on he says, “I am not a king. I am not a god. I am Lewis.” and “I am not a jack-o-lantern. My name is Lewis.” He follows these with a signature chortle. Part spooky, part sassy, Lewis delights fans with his absurd self-awareness.

How Did Lewis Get His Name?

A representative of Target’s internal product design team explains: “We really found the magic this year. When we were gathering bits of this and that, a charismatic pumpkin came to life. We greeted the jack-o-lantern and he was quick to let us know his name was not Jack, but actually Lewis. We knew a star was born.”

How Can I Buy My Lewis?

As of this writing, Lewis is sold out on Target.com and, according to fans, in most Target stores across the country.

However, Li’l Lewis is still available for purchase, costing just $10 — a bargain compared to $180 for the original Lewis. Fans could also buy the similar-looking Pumpkin Swamp Ghoul for $30.

If you’re really dedicated to the Lewis trend, you can always dress up as him for Halloween. (Unlike the fan in the video below, you don’t have to reveal what’s under the cloak!). Or try crafting your own version with plenty of cheesecloth and a jack-o-lantern mask. Remember to boldly declare your name at every given opportunity!
