Plastic bag holder - Just buy one, and here is why. Those bags are convenient to have and thats why we save them. That tissue box won't stand a chance after a few months of stuffing, adding and removing. And thumb tacks???Serious? If you attached it you'd need a screw with a wide head (or add a washer) to keep it from pulling through the thin cardboard. The plastic holders you purchase at the store uses double-sided tape, which would work for this on the side of the door, but would rip off the tissue box after a few months.

Racks for canned goods - Serious? That is the biggest waste of space I have seen in a long time. Cans are pretty standard in size. If the cans don't already interlock by stacking then build shelving based on the most common heights of the cans.
OR if you have redundant cans (backups/multiples) than you have to add more shelves to this idea. There is just too much open space not being used. While the idea is clever, (I'll take this next line from Top Gun) I think we'll take this as an example of what NOT to do.
Oh but if you're telling me that you've enough cabinet space to blow on this idea, then you should have the money to go along with it, so just have one custom made.

This is the best collection of affordable, easy, diy storage solutions I have ever seen... other magazines give me storage "solutions" that require me to buy expensive storage containers... you guys rock!

I feel that the angled shelf is a huge waste of space ! I would rather see shelves built with gliders that pull straight out so that you can access everything on that shelf.
This would quadruple your storage. The glides are sold in pairs at Home Depot for about $10.00 a pair. Upper shelves for paper goods, than cereals, and the lower shelves for the canned goods. Leaving about 20" open at the bottom would allow for the airtight storage containers for pet food.

What a great idea. Thanks. No more digging thru my "garbage drawer"

I like the idea of hanging measuring cups and spoons inside the cabinet, but cup hooks are too round to work well. A small nail or "less round" hook works much better.

Could you please add measurements in metric ?

I'm a child of the metric age, and imperial is totally confusing....

Kitchen Storage Solutions: Pantry Storage Tips & Cabinet Organization Tips

Need more space in your kitchen? These tips will help you take advantage of every nook and cranny to help you instantly organize and cut the clutter in the hardest working room in your house.

Racks for canned goods

Use closet racks as cabinet organizers. Trim the racks to length with a hacksaw and then mount screws to the back side of the face frame to hold the racks in place. The back side of the rack simply rests against the back of the cabinet. Now you can easily find your soup and check the rest of your inventory at a glance

Wine glass molding

T-molding designed for wood floor transitions makes a perfect rack for stemware. Just cut it to length, predrill screw holes and screw it to the underside of a shelf. For a neater look, use brass screws and finish washers. Prefinished T-molding is available wherever wood flooring is sold. A 4-ft. section costs about $25

Stop drawers from falling out

To keep a drawer in the cabinet where it belongs, drill a hole in the side of the box and make this stop with a dowel, a screw and a fender washer. It's easy to make and to remove.

Plastic bag holder

An empty rectangular tissue box makes a convenient holder for small garbage bags, plastic grocery bags and small rags. Simply thumbtack it to the inside of a cabinet door.

Thyme saver

If your spices are jammed into a drawer with only the tops visible, this nifty rack that slips neatly into the drawer will solve the problem. And it only takes an hour to build. Make it with scraps of 1/4-in. and 1/2-in. plywood

Spice storage

Small spice containers use shelf space in - efficiently and are difficult to find when surrounded by taller bottles and items. Use a small spring-tension curtain rod ($3) as a simple shelf. It's easy to install and strong enough to support the spices

Cookware organizer

Most kitchen base cabinets lack vertical storage space for big, flat cookware like cookie sheets and pizza pans. To provide it, just remove the lower shelf, cut a vertical panel of plywood and fasten it at the cabinet bottom with furniture braces and at the top with a strip of wood. Drill holes for the adjusting pins to match the original locations and trim the shelf to length.

Under-sink archives

Don't file away the manuals for your kitchen and bath fixtures. Instead, slip them into a zip-top plastic bag and hang the bag in the cabinet under the sink. They'll always be right where you need them. Toss in paint samples and spare cabinet hardware too

Measuring cup hang-up

Free up drawer space by hanging measuring cups inside a kitchen cabinet. Position and mount a wood strip so that the cups will hang between the shelves and allow the door to close completely. Mount a second strip for your measuring spoons, then screw in cup hooks on both strips.
