My job requires me to look at interior design inspiration on Instagram almost daily (I’m not complaining!), so I get to see a lot of beautiful bedrooms. The right wallpaper always makes a room stand out, stopping me mid-scroll.
The color and pattern can make a stunning statement in your bedroom. I’ve seen it used as an accent wall, all over the room, and even on the ceiling!
In the past, wallpaper was a big commitment. But with the peel-and-stick options available now, it’s more affordable and easily removed when you want something new. Here are a few of my recent favorites that I think will convince you to take the plunge.
Accentuate Angled Walls
Draw attention to charming angled walls with wallpaper, like in this sophisticated kids’ bedroom by @jenniferbeekhunter. The green pattern creates the illusion of vines growing up the walls, highlighting the distinctive shape of the room.
I was also drawn to the simple green, white and black color scheme. It’s a sophisticated choice for a kids’ room, made more playful with the clever use of multiple patterns.
Be Bold
This bedroom by @charnwoodtowers stopped my scroll in its tracks! The peach and terracotta color, paired with the bold graphic pattern, is absolutely stunning.
The choice to pair it with green bedding and furniture creates a high-contrast look that lets the wallpaper shine, rather than fade into the background. Limiting the wallpaper to two walls ensures the pattern doesn’t overwhelm the space.
Large Scale
Large scale wallpaper can make your bedroom feel more spacious, where small patterns make it intimate and cozy.
I love everything about this room from @carasavenwalldesign. The large size of the crane pattern wallpaper creates a mural effect that makes the wall look taller and the room bigger. The opulent gold color is almost reflective, bouncing natural light around the room.
Wallpaper the Ceiling
OK, now we’re really getting adventurous — wallpaper on the ceiling! I think this is such a fun way to use wallpaper, especially in a kid’s room where you have a little more freedom to be whimsical.
@bowersconstruction designed this room with the help of their first-grader, who picked out the pretty pink wallpaper herself! It contrasts beautifully with the mint green walls.
Built-In Desk
I’ve found most bedroom wallpaper centered around the bed itself. But wallpaper can also dress up built-ins, like with this bedroom desk and shelves from @eileenlanedesign.
The feminine blue and white pattern makes the white shelving pop, creating a stunning focal point in the room. Simple accessories, beachy artwork and touches of natural woven pieces finish the crisp coastal style of the space.
Color Coordinate
If you’re having trouble deciding on a color scheme for a particular bedroom, look to wallpaper for inspiration. In this space from @hpetersondesign, she drew on the pink, teal and yellow from the wallpaper to decorate the rest of the room.
The color coordinated style is perfect for this quirky kids’ bedroom. And don’t even get me started on those fantastic birds — what an impact!
Upper Wall
Not ready to commit to a full wall of wallpaper? Check out this idea from @hoxton_house1.
She limited the wallpaper to the upper section of this bedroom accent wall, and painted the lower wall in a matching muted blue (Sardine by Farrow & Ball). I think this created just the right amount of bold pattern and color for her daughter’s bedroom.

I saw a lot of bold and colorful wallpaper during my search. But if you have a more neutral aesthetic, wallpaper can work for you, too.
This soothing bedroom from @hayley_larue is done in all white, cream and beige. The wallpaper accent wall has almost a watercolor effect. It creates movement and texture in the room while adhering to the calming color scheme.

Framed Wallpaper Mural
In this baby nursery, @sweetleeandco created a framed wallpaper mural using wood trim. I’m so impressed by how the elegant trim gives the wallpaper a more high-end look.
After attaching the trim to the wall with a nail gun, they cut the self-adhesive wallpaper to fit inside the trim frame, then hung it with the help of a laser level to ensure each strip was perfectly straight.

Of course, wallpaper is not just for walls! Give your bedroom dresser a refresh by covering the drawers with peel-and-stick wallpaper.
Watch @astoldbymichelle put the idea in action. Her white IKEA dresser gets a whole new look with daisy print wallpaper. Simply cut the wallpaper to fit each drawer and stick it on, smoothing out any bubbles with a credit card or wallpaper smoothing tool.
