Cable-operated window regulators break quite often on late-model vehicles. They’re fairly easy to replace. (For step-by-step instructions, check out how to repair a power window.) But before you button up the repair, check the condition of the door glass attaching clips. If the clips are cracked, they must be replaced or they’ll break off completely and possibly damage the new regulator. Buy new clips at an auto parts store. The glass attaching clips are glued in place at the factory. So you’ll have to gently chisel them off. Then use a two-part glass epoxy (3M No. 08641 Channel Bond Adhesive; $25 at amazon.com) to glue the new clips in place. Allow the epoxy to set up for a few hours before reassembling the window.
