Toothpicks to Renew Stripped Screw Holes
If a screw turns but doesn’t tighten, the screw hole is stripped. My father gave me great advice for fixing stripped screw holes for hinges.
- First, remove the loose hinge.
- Dip toothpicks in wood glue, and jam as many as you can into the hole.
- When the glue is dry, trim the toothpicks and drill a new pilot hole for the screw.
