Seat-of-the-Pants Radial Arm Saw
You’ll forget all about that expensive new radial arm saw once you see how this simple jig produces perfect 90-degree cuts. Careful construction is a must. First, use a base platform with truly parallel sides. We glued and screwed two 3/4-in. plywood pieces together and ripped them to width on a table saw. Second, screw the base sides to the base. Third, rout rabbets on one side of each runner. Finally, screw one runner to the base sides at exactly 90 degrees and then align the other runner parallel to the first and just far enough apart so the saw’s baseplate slides perfectly inside the rabbets.
You can take this jig with you and screw it to your sawhorses or to your workbench for a rock-solid cutting platform.
