A hunk of 2×6 about 8 in. long doubles as a push stick and hold-down when ripping wide boards into narrower boards. It keeps ﬁrm pressure on the board throughout the cut, and your hand high above the blade. Notch the bottom of the 2×6 so its end securely catches the board for pushing.
