Here’s a neat trick to speed up cutting dadoes for shelves and other cabinet projects. Attach a 2-in. high wood fence to the table saw’s miter gauge using two screws, then cut through it with the dado blade set 1 in. above the table. Mark the dado spacing on the outer or face sides of the boards you’re cutting. Line up the face-side marks with the notch in the fence, push the board through and you’ll create “dead-on” accurate dadoes with each pass.
