No-Rock Chair

Got a tippy wooden chair? Here’s the easy fix. Place the chair on a flat surface—a table-saw table works great—and rock the uneven sides out with sandpaper.

Got a tippy wooden chair? Here’s the easy fix. Place the chair on a flat surface—a table-saw table works great. Rock the chair side to side to spot the two legs that are lifting off the surface. Tape coarse sandpaper under the two legs that aren’t lifting off the surface. Rotate the longer legs against the sandpaper until all the legs are flush with the table. Take it back to its home and try it out. Use the same trick to adjust chairs to high spots on the floor. Our thanks to Bill Wegmann for giving us a leg up on getting our legs down.
