The Family Handyman
Next to an extra set of hands, an ironing board is the best assistant around. It will adjust to many heights to support the boards you’re working on and make the job a lot easier and safer. We used reader Joseph Cimarost’s tip in the shop, and now can’t imagine working without it. When using a thickness planer, one ironing board levels the boards as they enter and the other supports them as they exit. Ironing boards store flat against a shop wall, so this essential aid is nearly invisible when idle.
