Turn a 3 x 21-in. sanding belt into a jumbo sanding block. All you need for the center “mechanism:”
- Two pieces of 1/2-in. thick ply-wood, 3-in. wide x 8-1/2 in. long
- Two dowels, 3 in. long x 1 in. dia.
Cut 40-degree angles on the ends of the plywood pieces, slip them into the belt so their ends create a “V,” then slide a dowel between the angled ends. The wood pieces will fit a bit loosely in the belt but tighten up as you apply pressure when sanding.
