Cut the sole and heel off a small leather shoe or boot, then cut two parallel slits on one side of the boot to hang it on your belt. Use it to holster a cordless drill for quick draw-and-drill action. You can also screw the boot to the side of your workbench or tool chest. Boots work equally well with or without laces, and boots made of stiff leather work best. Thanks to reader Ernest Krischke for this clever tip.
