When reader Keith Simpson saw plans for the North Woods Bench, originally published in the May 2014 issue of The Family Handyman, he knew it would be his next project.

He used clear pine boards, pocket-hole joinery and wood glue. And he finished the bench with enamel primer and two coats of acrylic latex paint, sanding between each coat.
“It was a pleasure to get my tools out and make something for the fun of it versus a needed home repair,” Keith says. I think we can all relate to that!
