I used to work at large construction sites with lots of other trades people, most of whom were unknown to me. Consequently, I’ve had lots of tools walk off of jobsites throughout the years, so I did something about it. I put a big blotch of ugly spray paint on everything I value—including power tools.
It’s hard for someone to steal a tool that’s so identifiable. It also prevents my batteries from getting mixed up with those that belong to someone else. There’s no mistaking what’s my stuff. Yep, my tools are ugly and that’s exactly why they go home with me every night. And those tools work just as well as the pretty ones. — Travis Larson
