10 Stores Offering Veteran’s Day Discounts and Freebies
Veteran’s Day might be halfway done, but there is still time for military members to take advantage of the deals these retailers are offering in appreciation of their sacrifice.
Get Amazon Prime $40 Off
Today is the last day that veterans and active military members can take advantage of a pretty significant discount on Amazon Prime. Amazon is offering a year of the service, which gives you access to free two day shipping, Prime Video, Amazon Music, and more, to veterans and military members for just $79.
GM Military Discount
General Motor’s just kicked off an entire month of military appreciation. From 11/1 to 12/2, vets and active military can get deals on vehicles from an assortment of new vehicles from popular GM brands, including Buick, GMC, and Chevy. Cars are more expensive than ever, so if you’re in the market for a new vehicle this month be sure to take advantage of these discounts.
Home Depot shows their love for the troops on a handful of holidays, including Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and, of course, Veteran’s Day. On these select holidays, former and current military members with a military ID or proof of service can receive a 10 percent discount on anything purchased at the store.
Free Popcorn With a Movie Ticket
AMC, the largest theater chain in the United States, always offers tickets at discounted rates to people with a military ID. Lowe’s also offers a year-round deal to veterans and active duty service members. Any current or former military personnel who sign up for a MyLowes card (which is a membership card, not a credit card) get an automatic ten percent discount every time they shop at Lowe’s. You could use that discount to get your hands on some of these weird items you may not have known you can buy at Lowes.

Target is offering a 10 percent discount to all military personnel, veterans, and their families both in stores and online. The discount only lasts through the end of Veteran’s Day, though, so you’ll have to act fast.
Bed Bath and Beyond
Another one-day Veteran’s Day sale is happening right now at Bed Bath and Beyond, where veterans, active military and their spouses can get 25 percent off their entire purchase. If you’re a military member who needs to stock up on scented candles and fitted sheets, you might want to squeeze some shopping into your plans before the end of the day.
Free Oil Change
According to MilitaryBenefits.info, many oil change centers offer free oil changes to veterans and active duty armed forces members, especially on and around Veteran’s Day. Call around to find out if any auto shops in your area are offering free oil changes in honor of Veteran’s Day. Here’s how to change your oil on your own.

Cabela’s Hometown Heroes Celebration
This will be interesting for hunting and fishing fans: Cabela’s is offering one of the more inclusive deals this year on Veteran’s Day, offering a 5 percent discount to military personnel (which includes active and retired military, active reservists, and VA recipients) as well as law enforcement, firefighters and EMS personnel. Individual Cabela’s stores are also hosting “Hometown Heroes” events, so check with the Cabela’s location nearest to you for any details.
Free Entrance Day at National Parks
Here’s a little travel hack for you: there are five days out of the year where admission to National Parks across the U.S. is completely free for everyone, not just military personnel:
- January 20: Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
- April 18: First day of National Park Week
- August 25: National Park Service Birthday
- September 26: National Public Lands Day
- November 11: Veterans Day
