Project step-by-step (4)
Step 1
Measure for a Door Sweep
- Measure the width of the front door from inside and mark the length on your new sweep.
Step 2
Cut the Door Sweep
- Cut the metal part of the door sweep with a hacksaw, then cut the flexible flap with sharp scissors or a utility knife.
Step 3
Position and Mark Holes
- Position the door sweep with the flexible portion lightly touching the top of the threshold. Then mark the screw positions and drill 3/32-inch pilot holes.
Step 4
Attach the Sweep
- Push the sweep down against the threshold and drive in the screws. Open and close the door to test the seal. When the seal is right, it can help reduce your heating bills.
