Every time I buy a can of paint at the home-improvement store, I also get one of those metal paint can openers. On any given day, I have several around the house, but I often can’t put my hands on one when I’m ready to start painting! So I recently came up with a solution: As soon as I pick up paint at the store, I take out my multitool and bend open the loop of the opener just enough to hook it onto the paint can handle. Now I always have an opener right when I need it. — Scott Kee
When it’s time to start painting, simply unhook the opener from the paint can handle, pour the paint and then re-hook the opener onto the paint can handle. That way the small metal tool won’t get lost or tossed in the trash after the painting project is complete.
