Here’s a custom paint dispenser featuring (1) a wide opening, (2) brush storage, (3) a convenient handle and (4) a pour-back spout. And it won’t cost you a penny. With a sharp utility knife, cut the top two-thirds off an empty 100-oz. plastic detergent bottle, rinse it thoroughly and pour in the paint. The wide, low mouth of the bottle makes it easy to load your brush, and the handle makes it easy to carry your paint while finishing trim or doing touch-up jobs. When you’re done, use the handy handle spout to return the paint to its container. And for a no-slip grip, wrap some duct tape around the handle. Thanks to reader Roger Healy for this hard-to-top tip.
