Keeping Kids Healthy
If your school district is one that has returned or soon will return to in-person classes, keeping your children healthy and safe at school is a top priority — now more than ever in this pandemic year. Stock up on the following items to make sure your kids follow good personal hygiene and avoid airborne germs at school.
Stock Up on Masks
Your kids are going to go through a lot of masks, so we suggest buying multiple packs of washable, reusable masks. Little kids will like these Crayola masks, which come with a mesh laundry bag, or these fun galaxy designs. Tweens and teens may want to stay a little more low-key, such as these washable masks in solid colors.
Hand Sanitizer to Go
If your kids are anything like mine, you really need to reinforce the importance of using hand sanitizer before and after playtime, eating, bathroom trips and getting on and off the school bus.
To save money and plastic, we recommend buying a big jug of hand sanitizer in a pump bottle and using it to refill small, portable plastic bottles that can attach to backpacks, keychains and jackets. If you’re concerned about little ones putting their hands in their mouths or even trying to drink the sanitizer, stick with an alcohol-free option.
Disinfectant Wipes
Depending on the age of your kids, it might be hard for them to remember to wipe down surfaces at school or on the bus. Stick a pack of these gentle, alcohol-free wipes in their backpacks and hope for the best. Or do a big favor for their teachers and donate several canisters of disinfectant wipes to the classroom.
Quick, Easy-Read Thermometer
Like it or not, taking daily temperatures is going to be part of your back-to-school routine. Make it quick and easy with a touchless, highly accurate infrared thermometer for adults and kids. It measures temps in just one second and can be used to test bathwater, room and food temperatures, too.
Protective Face Shields
For kids who can’t tolerate a mask on their face all day, these reusable, protective face shields are an effective compromise. They’re adjustable for kids ages six to 16, with a comfortable padded headband. Simply wipe them down with antibacterial wipes and reuse.
Reusable Water Bottles
You’ll want your kids to avoid school drinking fountains or the temptation to drink from a classmate’s bottle or straw. These reusable water bottles are easy for little hands to open, spill-proof and easy to clean. Plus, the wide straw can be slipped under a mask or face shield for secure sipping.
