Read on to see if your zipcode is among the country's housing hotspots.
Which Zip Codes Had the Hottest Housing Markets in 2024?
18062- Macungie, PA
Located just to the south of the much-larger Allentown, Macungie is a growing Pennsylvania borough within striking distance of several major metros on the eastern seaboard. Homes in Macungie spent an average of 16 days on the market in 2024, nearly a month less than the national average.
46322- Highland, IN
Highland’s popularity as a housing market is easy to explain. The city has a low-key, hometown feel but is just 41 minutes from Chicago. Highland also boasts a remarkably low median listing price of $254,000— a lower average price than every zip code on this list but one (more on that later.)
01085- Westfield, MA
Westfield is one of seven cities on this list clustered in the Northeastern U.S., so the region must be doing something right. Westfield’s location and affordability drove the highest number of viewers per property on Realtor.com in 2024, emphasizing the high housing demand in this zip code.
01453- Leominster, MA
The birthplace of Johnny Appleseed, Leominster is just 30 minutes north of Worcester and a little under an hour and a half outside of Boston. 36.4 percent of out-of-market viewers of Leominster listings on Realtor.com came from Boston, indicating a strong desire from potential homebuyers to leave the major city for the smaller, quieter suburb.
08054- Mount Laurel, NJ
Mount Laurel, NJ, sits just outside the Philadelphia metro, making it an attractive option for anyone looking to be centered between several major east coast cities. The township provides a nice dichotomy of lifestyles, with quick access to the bustle of many major cities as well as the nearby calm of the tranquil Rancocas State Park.
14609- Rochester, NY
Rochester’s median listing price of $165,000 was the lowest in the top ten zip codes. But if you want to get a bargain on a home in the area, you’ll have to act fast. Homes within the 14609 zip code also boasted the lowest average time on the market on the list, lasting just 8 days before being sold.
07920- Basking Ridge, NJ
Basking Ridge is on the opposite end of the spectrum from Rochester, with the median listing price for homes in the area sitting at a whopping $995,000. The real shocker is that these prices are still seen as bargains thanks to Basking Ridge’s proximity to much costlier real estate in the NYC metro.
01970- Salem, MA
More commonly found on lists like “the Spookiest Places in America,” Salem found itself near the top of the hottest zip codes list thanks to its relatively low listing prices and proximity to Boston. In fact, Salem properties listed on Realtor.com from January through June 2024 attracted 3.6 times as many views per listing compared to the national median.
63021- Ballwin, MO
Ballwin is the westernmost zip code in the top ten, and its location in the heart of the Midwest is a large part of what drove that position. Ballwin’s popularity isn’t just a flash in the pan, either. This is the zip code’s second year in a row in the top ten, moving all the way from tenth to second from 2023 to 2024.
44320- Gahanna, OH
Speaking of consistency: Gahanna has been the hottest zip code in the U.S. for two straight years, warding off potential challengers thanks to its combination of low median housing prices and great location. Sitting just next to Colombus, Ohio and Ohio State University, Gahanna’s enticing union of middle-American charm and sought-after amenities make it a tough zip code to top— and we’ll have to wait until next year to see if anywhere can.
