To get liquid fertilizer down to the plant roots where it will do the most good, I created my own watering device. I drilled holes into the sides of a long plastic transmission funnel (available at any auto parts store). Then I sharpened a dowel to a fine point and stuck it through the hole of the funnel to make it easier to drive in. When it’s time to fertilize, I push the funnel into the soil near the plant and pour in water and fertilizer. The mixture runs out through the holes and down to the roots. — James S. Tira
