Reader Project: Breakfast Nook Table
While driving by a restaurant during a community trash day, reader Jim Buschkamp and his wife spotted a four-footed pedestal
While driving by a restaurant during a community trash day, reader Jim Buschkamp and his wife spotted a four-footed pedestal table with one of the feet broken (the reason the restaurant owner was discarding it).
Jim’s wife immediately saw the table’s potential, so they brought it home. Then Jim turned it into this half-moon-shape table for their small kitchen. Paired with their black bar stools, the table makes a perfect breakfast nook.
“I sawed off, sanded and painted the missing foot stub, so it would rest snugly against the wall,” Jim says. “As I applied new countertop in this kitchen, I was able to take what would have been scrap after installing it and attached it to the top of the pedestal over plywood. We obtained a very useful and very appropriately sized dining area for the two of us.” — Jim Buschkamp
