Harbor Freight owner Eric Smidt announced on Sunday that Harbor Freight locations across the United States will be donating their entire stock of personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontline hospitals fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.

The PPE donations include N95 masks, face shields, and five and seven millimeter nitrile gloves. The statement doesn’t indicate how many they have. Harbor Freight is asking hospital officials seeking PPE to request it through this website.

Anyone who doesn’t work for a hospital but knows of a hospital with a 24-hour emergency room seeking these supplies can email Harbor Freight, putting the hospital’s city and state in the subject line. Someone from the company will follow up.

Mindful of the shortage of protective equipment, Harbor Freight wants to help medical professionals, healthcare workers and first responders in hospitals and emergency rooms.

“America depends on these heroes every day, and in the days ahead we will depend on them even more,” said Smidt in a statement. “At Harbor Freight, we want them to know they can depend on us too.”

The company plans to email vouchers to the hospitals. The vouchers should be brought to their local Harbor Freight to claim their equipment.

“Although we certainly won’t have enough of these supplies to fill everyone’s needs, we’re going to donate everything we’ve got,” said Smidt.

The severe shortage of PPE in U.S. hospitals is already a serious problem, poised to become a catastrophe if left unaddressed. The medical community has set up a website called #FindtheMasks where individuals with PPE supplies can donate them to health professionals in need.
