Mounting long pieces of molding by yourself is a lot easier with this molding hanger. Using a tin snips, cut a 1-1/2 in. x 6-in. strip from a coffee can or scrap metal. Cut a 1/2-in. long notch at a slight upward angle 1 in. down from the top of the strip. Bend the other end into a hook. Position a small screw in the wall at the unsupported end of the molding (leave the screw protruding 1/4 in. or so). Hook the hanger on the screw and use it to support one end of the molding. Once the molding can support its own weight, lif the hanger off the screw and move on to the next piece. (The screw will be hidden behind the molding.) — Cliff Lago
