Like any 3-year-old, Decker Kelly doesn’t like going to bed. But the railroad that circles his room helps. Decker’s dad, Jim, built it using boards, brackets, flexible track and the train set he had as a child. The train’s transformer is plugged into a remote control switch (the kind used for lamps). That keeps all the electronics safely out of reach and gives Decker push-button control from his bed.
“It’s a good tool to get Decker into bed. After lights out, he gets to run it 10 laps around the room—maybe 15 if he’s extra good.” – Jim Kelly
