Pad the impact of a slamming door with this tip.
We have very heavy solid-core interior doors that are quite noisy when slammed shut. To cut down on the ruckus, I stuck small pieces of foam weather stripping on the door side of the jamb’s stop. If the door won’t close all the way after installing the weather stripping, you might need to adjust the position of the jamb’s strike plate. There are a few different thicknesses at the home center, so try to figure out the ideal thickness before you shop. — Jim Steiner
