The Family Handyman
Ever misplace a wrench or two while working on your car? You close the hood and drive away, and they can bounce off into oblivion.
During future tuneups, keep your wrenches harnessed on a carabiner hooked to your belt. We tried the smaller, inexpensive models but recommend the larger, pear-shaped, locking carabiner that real mountain climbers use ($15 at www.rei.com). Lightweight but spacious, it stores several medium to large wrenches. And if you hook it to a smaller carabiner, it only takes a second to pull it off for a wrench exchange. Our thanks to reader Bob Hickey for hooking us up with this tip.
