The Family Handyman

An 18-in. magnetic tool holder ($14; www. rockler.com) makes an excellent band saw fence. The magnets hold firmly for accurate cuts, and tiny fence-to-blade adjustments are made with the tap of a hammer. Before Duane Asche delivered this tip, we’d been fussing around clamping a board on the table. The magnetic fence speeds things up so much that we now look forward to using our band saw. Plus, we feel a lot safer chugging through thick boards on the band saw than we did shoving them through the table saw—no more worrying about burned edges and kickback!
