Scroll saw table too small? Build this auxiliary acrylic table. The wood slides so smoothly on it, you may want to use it all the time. Make the table from 1/4-in. acrylic ($27 for a 2 x 4-ft. sheet). Cut it so it overhangs your saw’s table about 4 in. along the front and sides. Cut the blade slot using a 3/8-in. straight router bit or by connecting a series of 3/8-in. holes. Secure the acrylic table with double-faced carpet tape if you want to be able to remove it easily, or mount it permanently by drilling holes through both tables and bolting them together. If you do this, countersink the holes in the acrylic. Thanks to reader John Schauster for this expansive tip.
