Chip and Joanna Gaines Will Be Back on Television Soon
The power DIY duo is back—and in a BIG way!
Right on the heels of releasing her book “Homebody: A Guide to Creating Places You Never Want to Leave,” Joanna Gaines was on The Tonight Show with husband, Chip Gaines, to make a very huge announcement: The Gaines are coming back to television! Not just to HGTV, which is where their hit DIY show Fixer Upper was aired, but on a completely new network of their own.
When Jimmy Fallon, host of The Tonight Show, asked the Gaines if they would ever return back to television on air, Chip Gaines ended up breaking the news of their new television network. And of course, in a very Chip Gaines fashion, he made a huge joke of the ordeal.
“We signed a non-disclosure and it said quote unquote you can tell your mother but that’s it,” said Chip. He then turned to the camera and said “So mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement, we are coming back to television. You are going to get to see the kids grow up, you are going to see us, well maybe a six-month delay like the rest of the world, but we are excited to be back.”
Isn’t that lovely?
If you’re not fully aware of this power DIY couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines announced the end of Fixer Upper in September of 2017—the last episode airing in April 2018. Between running Magnolia Silos in Waco, Texas—where the two have also renovated a castle known as Cottonland Castle—while also running a restaurant, publishing books and a lifestyle magazine, curating a home decor line at Target—and curating their own home decor, including Joanna Gaines’ garden cottage—and having five kids, the Gaines certainly had their hands full already. But it seems leaving Fixer Upper opened the door to even more possibility for the family, including a full Magnolia network of their own.
Fixer Upper was always focused more on the DIY side of things, and never really shined a light on the Gaines children at home. But it seems that this network will be changing that standard. Although the shows involved with the Magnolia network have not yet been revealed, we can certainly expect even more sweet Chip and Joanna Gaines moments that made them such a popular television couple to begin with.
The couple plans on filming it right at home in Waco, Texas, so the couple can avoid traveling a lot for show segments. “I think we’re really going to carve it out in a way that really makes sense to us and our families,” said Chip on The Tonight Show.
In an exclusive interview with People magazine, a Magnolia spokesperson confirmed the news, saying “we are currently in the early stages of talking with Discovery about a lifestyle-focused media network for Magnolia. The details surrounding this opportunity remain a work in progress, but together, our hope is to build a different kind of platform for unique, inspiring and family-friendly content.”
