Amazon Prime Day—AKA one of the biggest reasons to be a Prime member—is just around the corner. The major shopping holiday takes place July 8-11 this year. And while we can’t wait to load our carts with deals and discounts, we found a new way to use our subscription to save right now—in a surprising place. Say hello to Prime fuel savings.
That’s right: your Prime membership could lower your fuel cost by up to 20 cents per gallon. And with gas prices climbing, every little bit counts. Here’s everything you need to know about this Prime perk ahead of your next road trip.
This membership unlocks exclusive discounts on shopping, movies, music—and even gas!
Amazon Prime is a subscription service from Amazon that offers members various benefits across shipping, shopping and streaming.
The most notable Prime membership benefits include fast, free shipping on Amazon orders and access to Prime Video, which features a large selection of movies and TV shows. For entertainment lovers, Prime also includes ad-free music streaming, a digital library for books and magazines, and unlimited photo storage.
A Prime membership also unlocks exclusive access to Lightning Deals and major sales events like Prime Day. There are also lesser-known perks, such as Whole Foods discounts, free GrubHub+ and fuel savings.
Amazon Prime members can unlock fuel savings through Amazon’s partnership with select gas stations, including BP, Amoco, and participating AMPM locations. Typically, members save 10 cents per gallon.
To access these savings, you’ll need to link your Amazon account to Earnify (a rewards program that makes it easy to get the discount). Here’s how it works:
Once you’ve linked Amazon and Earnify, you should be able to apply discounts at the pump by entering your phone number, using the Earnify app or using your Earnify-linked payment method.
Becoming a Prime member saves you money on shipping costs, grocery items, entertainment and more.
To sign up for Amazon Prime, navigate to the Prime page on Amazon’s website, choose a membership plan and follow the prompts to sign in or create a new Amazon account. If eligible, you can also start with a 30-day free trial. Membership costs $14.99 per month (or $139 per year) for regular subscribers, or $7.49 per month ($69 per year) for students.
Amazon Prime Day takes place July 8-11 in 2025.
Amazon Prime Day typically features steep discounts across various shopping categories. In previous events, some of the best deals have been on outdoor gear, lawn tools, cleaning supplies and smart home devices.
Amazon Prime Day is usually a two-day sale event, but this year it’s been expanded to four.
