An excellent article that I'm glad I found before beginning my first project!

As a complete novice however, it would have helped to learn how much sandpaper is typically required i.e. per sqm. Also explanation of some variations depending on the job at hand i.e. if only to rough up for painting or if to sand down an area of damp.

I wish I read this article a month ago when I started to refinish an old piece of furniture for my wifes birthday today; If I had, I surely would have been able to give her a finished birthday present today. Using the rigid foam is a great idea. Thanks for the tip.
