  3. 30" x 12" Above Range Wall Cabinet - Momplex Vanilla Kitchen

    Blog

    FromAna-White.com

Standard 30" wide x 12" tall over the range wall cabinet, designed for over a microhood or vent . Free kitchen cabinet plans from Ana-White.com Follow Ana on Pinterest! About Project Author Notes:  Because I'm guessing you don't want to have to operate on a too long wall kitchen cabinet for over the range or microhood ..... You'll find plans following for a standard 30" wide x 12" tall over the range/microhood wall cabinet.   Note that we actually made our cabinets a little taller to extend to the ceiling (3" to be exact + an extra approx 5" for crown moulding and an extra 1" for the base moulding) so our above the range cabinet is more like 15" tall.  You can simply add length to the sides and face frame stiles to increase height of the cabinet for a taller cabinet. IMPORTANT: There are many different kitchen cabinet plans on this site - please make sure you build the same cabinets collection for your kitchen.  This plan is part of the Momplex Vanilla Kitchen. Materials and Tools Shopping List:  8 feet of 1x2s for face frame 3/4" plywood ripped into strips 10-1/4" wide 1x4 or plywood scrap for the back support 1/4" plywood for back 1-1/4" pocket hole screws 3/4" finish nails for attaching back edge banding for finishing shelf fronts shelf pins for adding shelves DOOR and 1-1/4" overlay concealed hinges for FACE FRAMES Tools:  measuring tape square pencil safety glasses hearing protection Kreg Jig™ drill compound miter saw table saw nailer sander Cut List Cut List:  2 - 3/4" plywood @ 10-1/4" x 12" (Sides) 2 - 3/4" plywood @ 10-1/4" x 28" (Top/Bottom) 1 - 3/4" plwyood OR 1x4 @ 28" (Back Top Support) 1 - 1/4" plywood @ 29-1/2" x 12" (Back) 2 - 1x2 @ 12" (Face Frame stiles) 2 - 1x2 @ 27" (Face Frame rails) 1 - 1x3 @ 9" (Face Frame mid stile) FULL OVERLAY DOORS (2) SIZE 11" x 14-1/2" Step 1 On the outsides of the sides and top/bottom, drill 3/4" pocket holes along the front edges (outsides or less attractive side) of the pieces, for attaching the face frame in later steps. These pocket holes will be covered by neighboring cabinets, or if end cabinet, covered in 1/4" finished plywood to match doors and face frames. Then on the outsides, drill 3/4" pocket holes on each end of the top and bottom, and attach to sides with 1-1/4" pocket hole screws and glue. Step 2 Drill 3/4" pocket holes along top edge and ends of back support. Attach inset at back - this piece will be used to hang your cabinet. You can also add a second piece at the base for additional support. We used leftover finished plywood for these pieces, but a 1x3 or 1x4 could also be used. Step 3 The back is not structural - it just finished out the inside of the cabinet. Attach with 3/4" finish nails and glue. Step 4 Build the face frame separately on the table, and then attach the completed face frame to the front of the cabinet. Step 5 For full overlay doors, with 1/2" reveal between doors, order or make doors as shown above. We purchased our doors from Cabinet Now (not sponsored - they just make a great product for a good price) and were very happy with them. We attached our doors with 1-1/4" full overlay concealed euro style hinges for face frame cabinets. Finishing Instructions Preparation Instructions:  Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth. It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed. May I Suggest a Finish?
