Several years ago, I remember seeing some sort of retro-fit trimmer head which didn't use actual string, but had a system of more rigid plastic spikes which just looped into the head and were something like a 5 or 6 inch straight piece. I think there were 3 or 4 of these spikes/lines on the head. I have been unable to locate this system anywhere (was I maybe just dreaming this up??). Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and where I might find some info?

I changed the trimmer head on my Echo gas powered trimmer to one of these about ten years ago and have never regretted it. I simply carry a couple of extra pre-cut lengths with me while trimming. I have also switched over to extra heavy string (0.105) I believe. I can almost cut down a fence post (almost) with this setup.
