I am trying to get a complete list for a new home owner. I enjoy doing minor repairs, I also like to build picture frames, shadow boxes, hen houses, furniture upcycling, can drywall and minor minor electrical. I do not know what tools to buy, the home stores keep trying to sell me top of the line stuff that I remember my ex using for construction. I have never owned power tools and manual tools of my own because he had all the tools since he was a construction worker. Where do I start? I don't need heavy power tools and manual tools that someone building a home would need, I need power tools and manual tools for a homeowner that enjoys doing projects and repairs.

Some of the Amazon links in this article are broken. You may want to fix them, especially at holiday shopping time.

Home Depot: Ryobi 1/2 inch Hammer Drill $69.97 I have one and it is also a 1/2 inch drill for those heavey duty jobs. I even use it as a mixing tool for thin set morter and small cement jobs.
