I changed the trimmer head on my Echo gas powered trimmer to one of these about ten years ago and have never regretted it. I simply carry a couple of extra pre-cut lengths with me while trimming. I have also switched over to extra heavy string (0.105) I believe. I can almost cut down a fence post (almost) with this setup.
