Nice little project for the wife! Only issue I had was finding 1/2" "Walnut Strips" so I used 3/4 X 3/4 red oak. Came out VERY nice. Just keep in mind you'll have to cut handles to 5-1/2" instead of 5" due to the thickness of oak adds half inch more width to chopping board. Plus, going with 3/4 Oak adds a little more meat to the bone, strength wise. No pun intended!
