Here's the thing about the wainscoting that's described here. It will expand because it is a wood species. I prefer using MDF or having MDF in my home. Also what we did was have Wainscot Solutions http://www.wainscotsolutions.com in Connecticut traditionally mill stiles and rails over the beadboard to give it a recessed look. The MDF will never expand contract warp or split and that's maintenance free for me and my husband!

Wouldn't you want to install the wainscot behind the baseboard? Additionally, what about expansion of the wainscot?
