Great Tips! I would also add, for the actual painting, the higher end the paint the less brush lines you will see. Avoid lacquers since they tend to fail quicker than latex. Where you can(doors and door frames) use a whiz roller(the tiny rollers) with a short pile(5mm or so). It gives a nice uniform finish. When using a brush, try not to retouch where you've already painted until its dry. As for paint, i recommend Cabinet coat sold at Benjamin Moore. This stuff dries fast, is durable and if applied right, leaves a smooth finish.
