This past issue of family handyman magazine features "secrets from a pro" at caulking and one of the points he makes is that you should NOT cut the tip at a 45 deg. angle. So why would you guys suggest to do this in this caulking tip? Just curious.

I find a sharp 1" wide wood chisel works well for removing caulk. It's not as sharp as a razor blade, but much more sturdy and easier to grip when working with hard caulk. Hold the chisel with the bevel against the tub top (and then the wall) at an angle to the caulk bead and pull forward. Be sure to plug the drain before removing caulk. A shop vacuum works well to pick up small pieces of the old caulk.
