I installed a system similar to this one several years ago after I finished off the basement in our beautiful old farmhouse. With 1800 sq. feet to work with there was room to build my wife the laundry room and arts & crafts rooms that she wanted, and the sportsman's den and family rooms that I wanted. I spent a whole winter and mucho denero finishing off that basement and to protect that investment I had installed water s\detection systems not only in the laundry room but one that protected the hot water heater and another one for the general plumbing system as well. The one on the hot water heater save me big bucks last winter when it started leaking while we were away for the weekend. I modified mine to not only shut off the water but the electricity and gas to the heater as well.
