I really like your design, especially the biscuit joined decking, it gives the finished project a very clean look that nicely compliments the geometry of the pond and deck. A comment on pump selection: the rise of the water is from the surface of the pond to the height of the bio-filter outlet, I figure it's about 6 inches not six feet. Even adding the additional pressure head for piping friction I figure it's not more than about 2 (effective) feet. Counter to that is that there's a 'rule of thumb' that the total pond volume should turn over about once an hour but if your design did that the sluice would gushing. Without fish the turn over can be much lower so I'm sure this is fine.
