Install a Laminate Kitchen Countertop

Here's another question on laminate counter tops. We are going to take out our cook top and built in oven and put in a new stove. To do this we have to cut the laminate counter-top. The existing counter-top has that metal edgeing that most older homes had. Is there a way to save this and wrap it around the cut off to use it for the edgeing where we cut the counter/cabinet out to place our new stove in ?

I made some changes in my kitchen. The cooktop was in an island in the middle of the kitchen. It was always in the way. I had it popped up and rotated to make "an old-fashioned" peninsula with an extended over hang for an eating area at "the bar". This may have been a bit retro in styling but it works in the area much better than the more contemporary island. The new counter top was custom made in a different color to fit the dimensions of the peninsula and the small adjoining cabinet. The installation of the new countertop and new cooktop are great! The same laminate I selected is available in sheets. I would like my handy husband to work his magic and make all my counter tops match. My concern is that the countertops to be covered have a no drop rounded edge and the sheet laminate is flat. Can he achieve this rounded edge at home? I don't want to do to the flat edged box front. Are there any options?

As soon as we know how to handle the front edge, we intend to complete this project!
