This is great and very easy trick for everyone to find out if they need some waterproofing help. And as you said "there are no easy fixes to stop the moisture itself" . However people can ask local waterproofer to help them out. This would be much safer option and in most cases they will get guarantee on a JOB. So it will be WIN WIN situation for everyone :)
