I see a lot of recommendations against blown cellulose and for blown fiberglass.

Thoughts on that?

Should this cost more if I'm using a contractor? I had a $3500 quote in Minneapolis to have my 900 square foot blown in under the floorboards.
2x8 joists. Unfinished attic. I would seal everything and rip up any boards they needed ripped up. They agreed to let me do as much prep/demo work as possible, and factored that into the price.

Still seems expensive to me.

Does it matter if I use open or closed cell foam to seal the attic? Can I use caulk or mastic instead? What are the pros and cons? Thanks!

Great article, looking to do this project soon. Thank you for the step by step. I recently had some HVAC work done in my attic and the workers compacted the blown-in insulation. Can this this be re-fluffed up or is it ruined and needs to be removed and replaced?
