My house is old and no crawl space. The center beam sits on rocks and my floor is pulling away from the walls. How do I fix that?

I need to do this to a house that I am repairing. The beams that the post is supporting in the house I want repaired are in the middle of the house and the post supports 2 beams not one as is shown in this demonstration for do it yourselfers. I've seen 2beams more commonly sit on one post as opposed to one post holding one beam. So I've gotta find more information than this site provides because it will be a bit trickier than just holding one beam in place at a time. Thanks for the info that you did supply as it does give a person an idea of what to expect when one is going to re & re a supporting post.
