I just converted from oil to gas. The work is done and the city inspector has signed off on the project so everything is considered set to go. The gas company came and installed the meter. The technician pointed at a valve (which turns out to be what you call the 'house-side valve') and said 'That's usually inside the house'. In my case, it's on the pipe outside the house. I called the inspector and he said that to turn it off, a person would need a wrench and it wouldn't be easy, and that I shouldn't worry about it. I live in a city, and who knows... It is acceptable in your opinion that both the street side and house side valves are on the pipes outside the house?
