If your oven cooking times are off, recalibrate your oven temperature to match an accurate oven thermometer. The procedure is in your oven’s instruction manual.
Set an oven thermometer on the center shelf and let the oven heat to a constant temperature.
On this GE oven, you press the “bake” and “broil” buttons simultaneously, and then press “bake” to enter the temperature-adjusting mode. Then you keep pressing the “+” or “- ” button to coordinate the thermostat with the actual oven temperature.
If the temperature in your oven doesn’t match your temperature setting, or if your new oven just doesn’t cook like your old one, you can recalibrate the temperature setting. The instructions for adjusting the temperature are in your instruction manual. If you don’t have a manual, ask the manufacturer to send you one or go online and search for a downloadable version. Enter your oven’s model number along with the words “instruction manual” in the search box and you’re sure to find what you need.
You’ll need a good-quality oven thermometer to see if your oven is heating accurately (Photo 1). (We show an OXO brand). Check local retailers (kitchen and department stores tend to carry good ones) or buy one online. Place the thermometer on the center shelf and wait for the oven to maintain a constant temperature. Then use the procedure outlined in your manual to match the temperature setting to the thermometer reading (Photo 2).
Avoid last-minute shopping trips by having all your materials ready ahead of time. Here's a list.
You'll need an oven thermometer and the oven's instruction/owner's manual.

What do we do about the LED displays of our ovens that stop working? Two friends and I all have our 5 to 10 year old ranges with non-working LED displays. We "count" our button presses till we get the temperature we want. We have all looked into how much it would cost to replace the display and all have come up with a $300.00 or more figure. Oven manufacturers are smart, if they make crap for ranges then you have to buy a new one. Us stubborn American women who refuse buy a new range have to live with counting.....An oven used to last 20 years or more. You cant even buy an oven with the old fashioned dial temperature gauge. What a waste of money. What a waste of 100 lb's of steel. What a RIP OFF.

A great idea if you have a digital thermostat in your stove. I don't. I just have to remember it's approximately 25 degrees hotter than the dial says, ie if receipe calls for 350 I set it at 325 and never set it above 375 or you'll burn everything. lol!
