I put these in throughout the house and LOVE the way they turned out. I ended up using 1x10's to fully cover my blinds. Some of these were tricky because I had to make L shapes in corner windows, or even C shapes in some bumped out nooks, plus the walls weren't square (they never are, are they?). A great way to get learning experience on my miter saw though. I tried coping inside corners, but had difficulty with that, so ended up just mitering. Gaps were filled in with putty or caulk. While my corners weren't perfect, they're decent unless you look closely. One thing I suggest is painting the back sides as well. I didn't realize this at first, but the back sides showed from the outside of the house.

Thank you for this article! I made a white cornice this week. The plans here couldn't have been better... easy to follow and easy to understand.

I wanted to create a window cornice for my windows, but I didn't know how until I came to your site. Thank you! I didn't make it exactly as the one on the picture, but it gave me all the tools I needed to create my own style. Thank you !

This was by far the very best instruction for building a window cornice that I could find on the net. Thank you Family Handyman!
