This process works well as I have used it to replace 6 interior doors in my home. But, don't forget the new door size may not be the same as the old door and some planing will be required. If you can, wire brush the old hinges to make them look new also.

I tried one of the bracket installation systems called EZ hang that I ordered online and I was very pleased with it.

Bracket installation systems are much easier and faster then using shims for beginners. There available at Home Depot in door aisle. Its called the Quick Door Hanger and is the same price as a pack of shims.
